Lobbying our MP for Action on Climate Change

On Saturday morning I went to lobby our local MP Glenda Jackson for a law requiring annual cuts in carbon emissions to beat climate change. With me were my colleague Cllr Fred Carver (the polar bear and the youngest councillor in the UK when he was elected in May), Suzy Edwards of "Friends of the Earth" (far left) and two young Camden residents - Gabriel and Emmanuelle Twenteman.

Nearly 400 MPs (including all Lib Dems) have now signed a parliamentary petition in support of annual year on year cuts of climate change emissions. Tens of thousands of members of public have contacted their MPs. On Saturday 4th November there will be a Climate March in central London which organisers hope will be the largest ever. Camden Liberal Democrats will be there in force because we recognised that climate change is now the most important issue facing mankind.
