Let the Scots vote on independence ... and 'devo-max'

As a Londoner with a bit of Scottish blood, I’m delighted to see that the SNP leader, Alex Salmond, is going ahead with a referendum on Scottish independence. He's just announced a consultation on the process and I've sent an enthusiastic response.

I said I approved of the question "Do you agree that Scotland should be an independent country?" But I also said I'd like to see a second question which asks Scots if they'd like more decision-making powers, but not full independence. That's the so-called “devo-max” option, which is what, I suspect, they'll end up with.

If you'd like to email the Scottish consultation, the address is referendum@scotland.gsi.gov.uk .
