Doing It For the Kids

That's me below at Fitzjohn's Primary School leading a discussion on climate change with a group of 5-9 year olds. It's amazing what they knew. I felt quite humbled.

Ten Things We Could All Do Today In The Battle Against Climate Change

1) Try to buy local, seasonal, organic fresh food. Better still, sign up for an organic box scheme.
2) Refuse plastic bags & excess packaging in shops. Keep spare bags by the front door to take shopping.
3) Switch to a renewable energy provider like Good Energy or Ecotricity.
4) Use a compost bin for your garden and kitchen waste. If you have a balcony, get a wormery.
5) Pay an environmental charity to offset the carbon for any flights you take.
6) Don’t run the tap when brushing teeth, stop the shower when you’re soaping up, put a hippo in the loo, use a grey water diverter.
7) Stop buying milk in tetrapacks & plastic bottles. Use your local milkman who delivers glass bottles.
8) Change light bulbs to energy-saving ones. Switch off unused electrical appliances.
9) Try to carry a travel mug or a plastic water bottle with you.
10) Rent the DVD of Al Gore’s film “An Inconvenient Truth” and show it to your friends.
