On Thursday Ralph Scott was elected as the new Liberal Democrat councillor for Kentish Town, winning the seat from Labour who slumped to third behind the Greens.
Here are the full results:
Ralph Scott, Lib Dem 1093
Green 812
Labour 808
Conservative 198
This represents a major victory for us - it is an endorsement of Keith Moffitt's Lib Dem leadership of the Council, a real credit to the work of local councillors Philip Thompson and Faruque Ansari and a tremendous recognition of a very strong, intense and very localised campaign.
The Greens are deeply upset and disappointed - they thought this was their election and they threw everything into it. Labour took a not disimilar tactic but concentrated on throwing dirt and the Tory candidate was just lame frankly. In contrast Ralph is a great addition to the team - he worked incredibly hard and is a councillor of whom we can all be proud.
