So last night we had our first full Council Meeting. Our group leader, Keith Moffitt, was confirmed as Council Leader - the first ever Lib Dem Leader of Camden Council. The Lib Dem-led Executive, which runs the Council, is composed of six Lib Dems and four Tories. And Jill Fraser - who works part-time in a chip shop on Queen's Crescent - is the first ever Lib Dem Mayor of Camden. All very satisfactory really.
Then there was the marvelously named Ellen Lupy shouting from the public gallery "Get on with it" every few minutes. Apparently she's been doing it for 26 years. I'm surprised the Labour Party hasn't ASBO-ed her by now.
And I have to say that, on a night of tributes to the retiring Mayor and to the incoming Councillors, the Labour Party was remarkably churlish in defeat. Their new leader Cllr Anna Stewart harped on about how much they'd enjoy watching the Lib Dems and Tories break their promises and fall out with each other. It all made me think that we were rather lucky she rejected our offer of a Grand Coalition.
